Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
